Supportive Housing

Agency Investments Ensure Housing Opportunities
For NC’s Most Vulnerable Citizens

“Here at The Rose House, we’re one big family. I finally found my purpose. The guidance that I have here, and what they instill in us every day, lets you know that you’re worth it. That’s what keeps my feet planted.”
– Melissa, Rose House resident

Funded in part by the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency’s Supportive Housing Development Program, The Rose House in Calabash serves as Brunswick County’s first addiction recovery center for women, and is currently home to 30 women in recovery.

Our Impact in 2024

The Supportive Housing Development Program aims to increase the supply of emergency, transitional and permanent supportive housing for low-income households and individuals with special housing needs.

In 2024, funding was awarded from this program that will provide 160 units of supportive housing, including new and rehabbed housing for unhoused families in Washington and Newton, duplexes for youth aging out of foster care in Middlesex and housing in Durham and Wilson for people recovering from substance use disorders.

Using HOME-American Rescue Plan funding, the SHARP program (Supportive Housing American Rescue Plan) funds rental housing and non-congregate shelters for North Carolinians in need. In 2024, this program made commitments to fund 45 units.
